Dr. Ashley-Johnson Holder, Assistant Professor in the Department of Elementary Education, was recently named President of the North Carolina Association of College Professors of Reading (NCACPR). The purposes of NCACPR are to promote exemplary teacher education in reading and English language arts and research in reading and language arts. The organization also helps members and others stay informed of federal and state legislative action pertinent to reading education and provides information and recommendations on matters related to reading education to local, state, and national government representatives, State Board of Education, and Department of Public Instruction personnel. In addition, the organization encourages colleagues, teachers, and college students to join the International Reading Association, the North Carolina Reading Association, and local reading councils.
