This year on March 2, 2018, to kick off Women’s History Month, we are sponsoring a Take Back the Night Event from 6 – 9 pm in four locations on the FSU campus. This is a Women’s History Month event that extends beyond our immediate campus. Fayetteville Chief of Police Gina V. Hawkins will be our plenary speaker. The Honorable Chief District Court Judge Robert Stiehlis, among others, will speak to a gathering of FSU students and community participants about topics that range from safety on campus to intimate partner violence.
We will meet at Harris Hall, move to Lyon’s Science near the Tree stump, then onto the Gazebo, and end our procession at the amphitheater at the Student Center. In addition to hosting formal speakers from FSU and the community at large, we will have a theatrical reading of a play, a poetry reading, a live choral performance, and a stepping out performance by a student organization.
