2017 North Carolina Association for Research in Education (NCARE) Conference

Dr. Theodore Kaniuka, an Associate Professor of Educational Leadership, at Fayetteville State University, was elected President-elect of the North Carolina Association for Research in Education (NCARE) at its 2017 Annual Meeting at the Friday Center in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, (February 16-17, 2017).  Presenting at the NCARE Annual Meeting were Dr. Kaniuka and recent doctoral program graduates Dr. Donna Albaugh, Dr. Melinda Vickers, and current doctoral student Mr. Matthew Wynn.  The presentations were as follows:

  • Dr. Donna Albaugh, Fayetteville State University “Elementary Teachers’ Perceptions of Instructional Coaches’ Dispositions and the Impact on Teacher Self-Efficacy”;
  • Dr. Theodore Kanuika, Fayetteville State University & Dr. Melinda Vickers, Cumberland County Schools, “Exploring the Longitudinal Outcomes of Early College Students”; and
  • Dr. Theodore Kanuika & Mr. Matthew Wynn, Fayetteville State University “Using NSSE Data to Improve Faculty Instruction Student Engagement”

The theme of the conference was “Knowledge to Action:  Research that Moves us Forward”.
