Fayetteville State University’s (FSU) School of Education will host an “Excellence in Teaching” Institute April 24-25, 2009 in the Felton J. Capel Arena on the FSU campus.
The “Excellence in Teaching Institute” will focus on the following four strands:
- Quality teachers
- Globally competitive students
- Healthy responsible students
- Doctoral student research
The Institute Planning Committee has invited a stellar group of experienced educators to present 11 concurrent sessions on current topics in education to include differentiated instruction, active learning, effective parent/teacher conferences, and the effects of poverty and diversity on student achievement on Friday, April 24, 2009. Friday’s agenda also includes an awards dinner featuring Ms. Cindi Rigsbee, 2008-2009 North Carolina Teacher of the Year, as keynote speaker. Saturday’s activities will emphasize healthy and actively engaged students. A series of interactive learning stations will engage and inform participants. The Institute is scheduled to conclude at noon on Saturday.
